Portland, OR — The Vancouver Victory Women suffered a 3-0 defeat to Portland Thorns 2 on Sunday afternoon at Providence Park, closing out their fourth match of the WPSL season.

In sweltering conditions on the turf, the Victory showed disciplined defensive organization throughout much of the first half, keeping the Thorns off the board until stoppage time. A late breakdown allowed Portland to strike in the 45’+2 minute, sending the hosts into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Vancouver came out of the break looking to respond but struggled to sustain possession in the heat as the Thorns pushed the tempo. Portland added a second in the 60th minute and sealed the match with a third in the 75th.

Despite the result, the Victory’s defensive shape held strong for large portions of the match, especially under pressure from a high-paced Thorns side. The team’s effort and discipline without the ball were noticeable improvements — but fatigue and clinical finishing from Portland ultimately made the difference.

Now four games into the season, Vancouver continues to seek sharper execution in the final third and more consistency over 90 minutes. With lessons to take from a tough road environment, the group returns home focused on growth and getting back on track.
