Vancouver Victory Men & Women Split Games on the Road

Women earn big bounce-back win, while Men suffer second loss of the season

Vancouver, Washington: As the halfway point in the season approaches for both Victory teams, they find themselves in good positions to make a playoff run at the end of the regular season. The Men find themselves right in the middle of the Evergreen Premier League table after a narrow loss to Bellingham United, while the Women sit in second place in their division of the Cascadia Premier League after their bounce-back win versus OVF Alliance this past weekend.

The Women made their way down to Albany, Oregon last Saturday, and came back to Vancouver with a convincing 2-0 win. “It was a great win,” said Women’s Head Coach Maddy Wright. “We’re looking forward to building off this momentum.” The Women currently have a record of 2-1-0, sitting in second place in the Hood Division of the Cascadia Premier League. They’ll be back on the road this next weekend versus NW Elite, before they wrap up the regular season with their last two games at home.

The Men on the other hand suffered a hard-found 1-2 loss against top of the table Bellingham United. After a rough first 45 minutes, the Men turned things around in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to earn the win they needed. “We had a tough match. It was a battle of the best two teams in our opinion,” said Men’s Head Coach Jeff Lukowiak. The Men will get another chance in their last game of the season to enact their revenge against Bellingham United. “We’re looking forward to the rematch in a few weeks. It’s always tough to travel 5 hours and come away with a loss, but our team fought hard and we’re very happy with our efforts in the second half.” The Men are back at home this weekend as they prepare for their rematch against the Everett Jets.
