V2FC Primary LogoVANCOUVER, WA—The second session of Vancouver Victory FC open tryouts were held Saturday March 14 at King’s Way Christian High School. (See first round tryouts recap here.) This time you could smell the aroma of fresh-grilled grub wafting across the pitch as players tried to impress not only the Victory coaches but also Victory supporters in the form of The Vanguard.

“It was an awesome sight to see The Vanguard boys set up the tent and the barbecue and start grilling some food for these players,” says Victory owner Barrett Goddard. “They share the same passion for the sport as the players and coaches.”

Head Coach Aaron Lewis feels good about moving into the practice phase of pre-season. “I felt like the two tryout sessions were successful,” he says. “We were able to evaluate several talented players and have a strong core players moving forward.”

Over two open tryout sessions the Victory had 75 players turn out trying to make the team. “Providing opportunities to play soccer at a high-level is one of the cornerstones of our mission statement,” Goddard says. “It was great to have so many talented players come out and fight for a spot on our squad.”

Thursday morning March 19 the Victory held their first official training session. They were greeted by the sunrise below.
